2007 Oceania Billiards and Snooker Update

The arrangements for the 2007 Oceania Billiards and Snooker Championships are still progressing well, the venue is looking good, and everthing is on course for a great event in Brisbane in May.

Because of the progress and also the Easter period, the closing dates for the Oceania Championships have been put back one week to 13 April to give everyone every chance and as much opportunity of entering these important Championships.

These Championships are going to be a real festival of Snooker and Billiards, and a real must for all eligible Billiards and Snooker players to participate.  All of the Oceania Championships are to be round robin events – so you are going to get lots of games!  It is up to us all to give the full backing to these Championships by entering, to ensure their success and to further promote both Snooker and Billiards for all Oceania countries with such a great event.

Do not also forget, that apart from being the Oceania Champion, the Champion of the Oceania Men’s Championship secures the most valuable place on the 2007/2008 WPBSA Main Tour and the Runner-up secures the Oceania Regional place in the IBSF World Snooker Championships.  The Champion of the Women’s Snooker Championships secures a place in the IBSF Women’s Snooker Championships as the Oceania Regional Champion, with both of these IBSF Snooker Championship events being held in Thailand this year.

As a reminder to all players of the information on the entry forms, you have to be a citizen or permanent resident of your country and a current financial member of an affiliate country of the OBSF.  Professional players that are or were on the 2006/2007 Main Tour are ineligible to participate in the Championship as per the WPBSA ruling, as there is the WPBSA Main Tour place directly available from this Championship.

As an added bonus there is also the QBSA/ABSC Ranking Tournament, the Queensland Open Snooker Championship being held immediately prior to the Oceania Championships, which all players from every country are also most welcome to enter.
