Held at the ACBS Clubrooms 26 October 2008 :

Good to see a lot of new faces in this tournament.  There were only a couple of surprises in Section Play, one of them being Siloti Maher not qualifying for Post-Section.

Unfortunately in the Quarter-final between Michael Yap and Sean Stevenson, Michael developed cramp in his hand and also some sort of pain throughout his body, and had to concede his match at 1-all and in the lead in the final frame.

David Gourley and Barry Littlechild had a good match.  In the final frame David got a 40 break to seal the match 2/1.  This break was also the highest break for the tournament.

In the Semi-finals Sean Stevenson beat Jonathon Cox 2/0, and Bernie Steward beat David Gourley 2/0.  The Final was looking like going to three frames but with Sean 1/0 down and 25 in front; with Bernie only able to draw he played a very casual shot on an easy green and then a similar shot on the blue.  Bernie doubled the pink and then played a black off the cushion, more for safety than to pot, and it went in a corner pocket.  The black was re-spotted and after a couple of attempts to pot it, Sean left Bernie an easy black in the middle allowing Bernie to win the Final 2/0.

The plate event was won by Jackie Wang over Peter Heksel, 2/0.
