Good to see some of our now grown-up past Junior members back, taking up tournament play again.  Larry Fatialofa, John Harrison and Timothy Putu all played well and qualified for Post Section play.  John drew veteran Jimmy Henry and lost 9/2, Timothy beat second seed Sam Chin 9/6, and Larry lost to Kevin Sun 9/4.

Jordan Davey beat the current South Island 9-Ball Champion 9/8 when at 8-all Andy broke and was on a clearance, but went in-off the 7-ball leaving Jordan to pot the 9-ball.

In the Quarter-finals, TImothy carried on his good form to beat Jimmy 10/6.  Mathew McInnes beat number one seed Nick Pera 10/7, Kevin Sun beat Phil Wilkinson 10/5, and Chris Bowman and Jordan Davey’s match went right to the wire with Chris breaking the 19th frame and getting the 9-ball off the break.

In the Final between Chris Bowman and Kevin Sun, Chris shot out to a 5-1 lead and Kevin struggled to get up to 10-9 when he missed an easy ball to level the score at 10-all, and then missed another easy ball to level the frame score again at 11-all, allowing Chris to take the Cup at 12-10.

The Women’s winner, shortly off to Las Vegas for the World Junior Championship, was Denise Wilkinson who was in devastating form, only conceding 21 frames in the entire tournament, winning the Final over Hazel Cook 11/2.
