This event was contested by seven young enthusiastic players who always appeared to be in a hurry to play the next shot, and with little fear of the consequences.
Lee Paul was top qualifier and also had a break of 29 in Section Play. All seven qualified for Post-Section play and based on how they performed in their sections were then seeded into the Post-Section draw.
Paul was a bit careless in his Semi-Final match against Dominic Tamehana. He was 1-up and 36 in front with one red left. Tamehana snookered him and he elected to play a fancy massay shot (missing it three times) instead of an easy shot off the cushion and Tamehana won the seconf frame on the black. However, Paul raced away in the third with breaks of 27, 15 and 16 to win 2/1.
In the Final between Paul and Victor Tangihaere, Paul seemed to be just cruising along but when it came to the third frame, produced some good pots to win 2/1.
Highest Break : L Paul (29)
