Clubs NZ North Island Snooker Pairs

Once again the Howick Club Inc put on a great event for the 2009 Clubs NZ North Island Snooker Pairs Championship.
With a full field of 40 pairs it was a great turnout. There is always going to be a few upsets with a format of one-frame snooker in Section Play, and it was an interesting first day of matches.
Post-Section play was held on the Sunday and there was some very good snooker played. The Final was Stratford Club’s Paul Bason and old stalwart, Stan Bunn against Onehunga’s Sanjay Kumar and Gerry Cronin. This match was a great exhitition of potting from Kumar and the result was 3/0 to the Onehunga boys.
Thanks must go to Leone Patterson from the Howick Club Office – she does a great job organising the event. Thanks also to Craig Lowery for arranging all of the sponsors. As we all know, without the sponsors there is no tournament. Craig also organises the free BBQ lunch that is put on both days.
The Snooker Section would like to thank all of the sponsors and especially the main sponsors, Margaret and Erich Dornauer of the Autobahn Cafe. Thanks must also go to Malcolm Beehre from the Auckland Billiards & Snooker Association and Warrent Burke from the NZ Billiards & Snooker Association for all their efforts in running the event.
