Held at the Manurewa Cosi Club : 15-16 October 2011

Report by Malcolm Beehre : The field for this event was affected by a clash of dates with the Northern Area 8-Ball Singles which was also held at the Manurewa CC.  As the BNZ tournament is on the same weekend each year it can only mean that for some reason or other, the Northern Area organisers changed their date without taking into consideration other cue-sport events in the same area. Held at the ACBS Clubrooms : 30 September – 01 October 2011

A top field of 35 in this event which included players from Christchurch, Wellington, Napier, Waikato and Auckland.  Because of the calibre of the field there were some major upsets, notably 3rd, 4th and 5th seeds Gary Gillard, Shannon Swain and Eldon Lai failing to qualify for Post-section Play.  Section 7 ended by having 3 x 3 winners with Willy Florence first on a +6 differential, second was Dale Kwok on a +4 and third was Clive Thomson on a +3 allowing him to qualify in the number 15 spot as one of the two best thirds.  The other third place getter who qualified as number 16 was Shannon Swain.  At this stage of the tournament there had been 25 breaks over 40, the top break being 92 by Thomson.
