Report by Malcolm Beehre : Only a small field in the Women’s event again this year, but the title was still keenly contested with Lisa Everett taking it out, winning 6/4 over Lucinda Prescott.

There were a couple of upsets in the Men’s Section Play and also a couple of count-backs required for 4th place in Sections.  Lee Jones and Jamie Walker  both had good performances in Section Play and so too did newcomer Kelvin Tu, but it was still the usual group that ended up being the top qualifiers.

The Men’s Final went right to the wire with the frames tied at 8-8 and Edwards snookered on the ball on.  He got out of the snooker and a few balls ended up kissing each other and one knocked the 9-ball into a centre pocket giving him the 9/8 win.

Semi-finals : W Wen bt M Kasemchaiyanan 8/5, M Edwards bt K Zhang 8/5.

Final : M Edwards bt W Wen 9/8.
