ABSA Junior (U21) Snooker

Held at the ACBS Clubrooms 27 October 2008 :
This was probably the youngest field for many years with Anaru Tanehana (9), Leonard Toh (11), Tom Woodman (11), Dominic Tanehana (12) and Josh Milne (13). There were eight in the field and a one-frame round robin was played.
The top four qualifiers played best of three for the Semi-finals and Final, and the other four played one-frame for their Semi-finals and Final to find the Plate Winner which was eventualy won by Leonard Toh over Dominic Tanehana.
Sean Stevenson beat Josh Milne in one of the main event Semi-finals 2/0. In the other Semi-final match between Rogan Beedle and Jamie Walker, Jamie potted the last four colours in the second frame to level at 1-all. In the Final frame Jame won 59-56 on the black, but Rogan made it easy for him, conceding 28 points in fouls and still missed a couple of reasonably easy chances to win.
Sean beat Jamie in the FInal 2/0 and was the most consistent player on the day with breaks of 24, 36, 24, 19, 33, 19 and 35.
Thanks to an enthusastic crowd of parents and relatives, it was a most enjoyable day and hopefully the start of a group of young players wanting to play snooker.
