This was the last Snooker tournament to be held in Auckland this year.  A very strong field of 40 players, including 11-year-old Leonard Toh.  The last time we had a player this young playing in a ranking tournament was probably when Dene O’Kane played in the Auckland A-Grade in the late 1970′s.

Dene O’Kane retains World title

ABSA Junior (U21) Snooker

Held at the ACBS Clubrooms 27 October 2008 :

This was probably the youngest field for many years with Anaru Tanehana (9), Leonard Toh (11), Tom Woodman (11), Dominic Tanehana (12) and Josh Milne (13).  There were eight in the field and a one-frame round robin was played.

Jim Couper Open Snooker

The Capital City Billiards and Snooker Assn held the annual Jim Couper Open Snooker event over the weekend at the Petone Club.  A strong field contested the NZ Ranking event and the countries top seed Harry Haenga, once again came out on top.
