Oceania 8-Ball and 9-Ball Champs

Submitted by Administrator (via www.cuesports.org) : The week of Pool started with the Australian 8-Ball followed by the Oceania 8-Ball and Oceania 9-Ball.
All three events were held at the Legends Entertainment Centre located at Epping, Victoria. What a great venue for these events, which opened four months ago, with 32 tables, twelve of which are American tables.
The field for all events (with exception of the Australian 8-Ball Championships) was made up of New Zealand and Australian players. New Zealand Players arrived on Monday and were all fired up to compete and take away the prizes. This was not to be, as the Aussies raised the level of competition and proved to be the best.
David Reljic of NSW took out the Austrlian 8-Ball Championship for the second time and then topped it off with winning the Oceania 9-Ball events. Ben Nunan, Victoria, walked away with the Oceania 8-Ball title, defeating Brenton Coller of South Australia.
A newcomer to the women’s events, Margaret Gorski of Victoria, made it to the finals of the Oceania 8-Ball and played against Lyndall Hulley. Lyndall, who is the Australian Champion, proved a little too strong for Margaret and won the title and the prize.
The Oceania Women’s 9-Ball final was a battle between Lyndall Hulley and Denise Wilkinson of New Zealand. Both ladies are National Champions, so the final was a ripper match. It was nip and tuck all the way with Denise defeating Lyndall 13/12.
